Books – fiction
- The Great Divorce – C.S. Lewis. This thing has just stuck in me over the years, and is a book I revisit more than nearly any other.
- The Shack – William Young. This story reveals God’s heart in a profound way; I love that.
- East of Eden – John Steinbeck. A wonderful classic.
Books – non-fiction
- anything by Tracy Kidder, but especially enjoyed House and Mountains Beyond Mountains.
- Loving Your Kids on Purpose – Danny Silk. Best parenting philosophy I’ve come across, based on Love and Logic principles. Emphasizes parents’ role to model the heart and ways of God to their kids.
- Can You Hear Me? Tuning in to the God who speaks -Brad Jersak. “How to” listen to God, which changed my relationship with him.
- Your Life in Christ – George MacDonald
- Bill Bryson is completely hilarious, and I love pretty much everything he’s written. A Short History of Nearly Everything is a favorite.
Movies
- Mostly Martha. A lovely little subtitled film (the basis for the nowhere-near-as-good remake, No Reservations).
- The Spitfire Grill
- Les Miserables (Liam Neeson/Uma Thurman version)
- An Unfinished Life
Music
- Sara Groves
Probably The River Why isn’t on the list is because it goes without saying.
Hi from Juneau.
I so enjoyed just searching through your heart as i spent time on your blog. I took a side trip to visit with Brad Jersak…even
recognized some of the names of the ancients in the articles people were writing from my “Church History” Class Bub and I are taking every Sunday by the fire in our living room (I read out loud and Bub prepares communion and stokes the fire!!!)
Your pictures are so restful…I know your life is not at this stage but at least your pictures are !!!
I love you and hold you fondly in my heart!
bonny
Once again I have spent at least 2 hours perusing through your website…and landed upon symposium by Brad Jersak (and two others) reagarding “Deep Strutured Fear”…excellent time to spend just pondering the extent to which the teachings from our evangelical circles has affected/inflicted some pretty irrational fears in our hearts. I so appreaciate Brad’s heart and because of him I am being opened to new opinions and expressions of our faith. Amazing that it is still true what was said of the disciples…(“these are unlearned men…we can tell they have been with Jesus”) hold water for us. A Life lived loved has great potential for opening up others to Jesus.
Missed seeing new pictures of Autuum!!!
love to you…

Wondering where the “new baby” pictures are?
